The holidays are just around the corner, and it’s often stressful for anyone, including your dogs. Dogs can feel happiness, sadness, fear, and anger. The holidays can disrupt their equilibrium, so it pays to recognize that each dog is unique. They might not be bothered by all the comings and goings, but they might be. 

Here are some holiday tips to keep your disabled dog happy. 

Manage the Space

Disabled dogs are more anxious when the routine is disrupted at home. However, many disabled dogs will tolerate the holiday activities better if you provide the proper care and support.

• Ensure your disabled dog is comfortable. Please give them a Special bed or a designated area to rest away from the madding crowd. 
• Stick to as much of your disabled dog’s routine as possible. It will reduce their stress and anxiety significantly.
• Remember your dog’s Disability and give them the tools to overcome it, such as a good-quality lifting harness or dog wheelchair. 
• Have a good supply of your disabled dog’s medication and medical supplies on hand.
• You might have to hire a sitter or dog walker when you are too busy to attend to their daily needs. 
• Provide your disabled dog with easy access to food and water, and take note of any changes in their habits.
• If you notice changes in your disabled dog’s behavior or signs of distress or discomfort, contact your vet for advice. 

Give Special Treatment

The holidays are the perfect time to spoil your pets a bit more than usual to help them feel the spirit of the season. 

• Give them extra love and attention, including cuddles, grooming sessions, and more time together.
• You can help your pets experience the holidays better with extra Accommodations. If your dog has difficulty climbing stairs, designate an area for them on the main floor.
• Take your disabled dog to the park in a pet wheelchair or a pet-friendly store more often for fun and socialization. It will help them work out some of the stress and anxiety at home.
• Involve the dog in holiday activities as much as possible. This might mean including the dog in holiday photo shoots or letting the dog participate in gift-giving.
